Process of online order fulfillment

There are several steps included in the process of ecommerce fulfillment; including the moment someone orders something on your website to the product getting shipped to their door. While it seems like a lot to handle, if you have a proper chain set up between your business, your manufacturer, and your ecommerce warehouse team, then there’s nothing to worry about.

Here’s each step of the process of ecommerce fulfillment:

1. Products made at a manufacturer facility

Before you can sell and ship out products, you must first have your product manufactured. Once your products are made and inspected, then they can be shipped to the Forte Frozen warehouse.

2. Ship to fulfillment center

As mentioned above, upon completion of the creation of your products, your items will be shipped to one of our several warehouses in Colton, CA; Ormond Beach, FL; Denton, TX; Clearfield, UT; or Portland, OR. 

3. Products received & added to inventory

When we receive your products at one of our warehouses, we inspect them upon arrival and add them to our cloud based inventory management software for your convenience.

4. Products placed in warehouse

Once we get your inventory into our system, we find the best place in our warehouse for your products. We have dry storage as well as cold storage options for perishable goods.

5. Receive an online order

When your website receives an online order, our warehouse receives a notification to start prepping that order. Once the order has been approved, we move forward with the process.

6. Products get picked and packaged 

After the online purchase has been approved, we go ahead and pick the ordered products from the appropriate sections of our warehouse and package them for shipping.

7. Label and prep for shipping

Once all of the products for your online orders are picked and packaged, we label them and prep them for shipping. 

8. Products loaded onto delivery vehicle and shipped out

After each package is labeled, inspected, and prepped for shipping, they’re loaded onto a delivery vehicle and shipped out to your customers.

9. Customer receives their package
